Dear Family, As we start the year 2010 we are looking forward to a wonderful year filled with a lot more research and our website growing even bigger with information. The website when it started was a thought out process that we prepared for. However, with that preparation we were faced with a few obstacles and a few hard choices to make before putting so much information up. The following are areas of concern that we had when putting the website up.
Guidelines and rules were put in place by James and myself to take these very three problems into consideration with the website. We do not want to hurt or offend anyone. At the same time we want a strong website for the Mulroy name and family research. There is a very large puzzle out there to be put together and we can not do that if we stay silent.Guidelines and rules that we laid out are as follows from the very beginning.
Recently we have had some emails from different family members not happy with what they see. It may be the information supplied, a picture or facts. Where do we draw the line from accommodating family and protecting the website? It is a hard choice but we feel we need to stand our ground. We can not allow thousands of people to dictate how the website is ran and what information is on here. Even in the same family, family members will disagree. That I guess is where James and I step in as the ultimate choice of what is on the website. In the end we have a very strong template of what is on here. Biographies on Mulroys are all very much the same and we will continue with that same template. In the end this website is a family researching gold mine for the Mulroy family. Research is done differently and seen through different eyes with different views on how it is done. This is indeed how we do it and share even more information then what James and I feel is important. Example of this is headstone and grave images. I personally collect these. Many of these graves I will never be able to see in person. I can see them through images and so can thousands of others. In my eyes it is a form of respect and observance. Others may find it disturbing or of no value to the website. Many researchers collect these images. If we offend someone we can only say we are sorry. We just hope that you can understand that we can not make thousands of people happy all at once. You have to give a little to get a little. We will be standing strong on our views of the website as we feel they are solid and the best choice.
Thank You,
Mulroy Website Creators.
